‘Our Principles’ Session – Compassionate Leadership
Speaker: HE Jassem Al Baloushi

Every organisation must be a role model for the community in terms of its principles, ethics, goals, and objectives. Leaders of organisations should be role models for their employees, embodying initiative, empathy, understanding and creativity.
This session sheds light on ‘Compassionate Leadership’ as an unconventional leadership approach effective for organisations that work directly with society. Compassionate leadership recognises that every team member is not only a significant individual but also an essential thread in the fabric of an entire organisation. Such leaders strive to enhance the happiness and well-being of their people by supporting them and giving them what they need to excel. Compassionate leadership is not focused on the short-term or instant gratification; rather, it is focused on what is best for the individual, the team, the organisation and it considers other factors that may influence or impact the situation at hand.
Topics include how organisations can motivate people, make them believe in the importance of social work and help strengthen relationships between leaders and individuals on the basis of love, mutual support, compassion, and recognition of their individual skills and abilities.

‘Our Objectives’: Social Return On Investment (SRoI)
Speaker: Farzaneh Majed

In a rapidly changing world, organisations and companies are not only caught in the demanding task of calculating costs and benefits and measuring profitability by using return on investment (RoI) metric tools but are also becoming more involved in the new paradigm of doing business that captures not only financial value but social value as well.
Social Return on Investment (SRoI) is a tool used to help organisations answer the fundamental question: How much value are we creating? SRoI is a framework for measuring the value that is not directly reflected in financial statements, including social, economic, and environmental factors. SRoI presents how social, environmental, and economic outcomes create impact, measures the value created and uses financial terms as a common denominator to express this value. It is all about value and not about money; SRoI assigns monetary values to the change outcomes evidenced from the implementation of a certain initiative.
This session discusses the best ways to bolster SRoI of an entity’s initiatives and how to turn those results into indexes that measure success, sustainability, and its relationship with the public.

‘Our Data’: The Significance Of Data And Statistics In Planning And Impact Assessment
Speaker: Amin Al Zarouni

Why do data and statistics matter? Quite simply, they are the evidence on which policies are built. Without any data, a society is a group of people whose needs, ambitions, and the challenges they face are not clear. Without data, it is difficult to formulate social development plans and predict their outcomes. Data helps identify needs, set goals, and monitor progress. Without good statistics, the development progress is blind: policymakers cannot learn from their mistakes. nor can they be held accountable.
When the data of a community is collected and analysed, there is a better understanding of its members’ needs, tendencies, and ambitions. It is essential to create plans that respond to those needs and take into account the particularities of each segment. Data has become key to the operation of all entities and governments because it offers a better understanding of the realities and helps form a more reliable perception of the future.
Organisations need to foster the culture of the data assessment and enable their staff to harness, analyse and deploy Big Data in programmes and indexes.
To enhance this culture, the forum is hosting Amin Al Zarouni, Chief Executive Officer of Sahab Smart Solutions, who will discuss the transformations that are possible in the business as well as social sectors through efficient utilisation of data, and how to make the most of those transformations to achieve meaningful results.

Organisations require the right tools to accomplish their objectives. IT, digital platforms, and social media offer efficient and effective tools to achieve target objectives.
Communication tools are key to the implementation of programmes. They enable entities to engage and communicate internally as well as externally while designing and implementing their programmes and initiatives.
